Preserving Old Smyrna Road a fight for history

During a recent government meeting, officials emphasized the importance of preserving Old Smyrna Road, a historic corridor in Brentwood and Williamson County. Recognized for its unique historical significance, the road is not only a remnant of the area's past but also a vital link to its Native American heritage, having originally served as a trail.

Participants highlighted that Old Smyrna Road is home to several historical landmarks, including the site of the old Mayfield Fort, the first trading post in the region, and the Old Smyrna Road Methodist Episcopal Church, established in the 1830s. Additionally, notable residences such as the Snead home, the Frost home, Fox View Farm, and Windy Hill are situated along this route, alongside several historical cemeteries.
