New recruits join Allentown police force in major overhaul

In a recent government meeting, the Allentown City Council announced the latest additions to its police force, highlighting a diverse group of candidates selected from the civil service list. The new recruits include Colin Lindeman, a 48-year-old former attorney from New York City who has transitioned into law enforcement after relocating to Allentown.

Patricia Ortiz, 34, currently employed by the Lehigh County District Attorney's office, and Sharon Nelson, a court reporter for the Lehigh County Court of Common Pleas, are also among the new hires. Both women will attend the police academy as part of their onboarding process.

The list further includes Christopher Baer, a 45-year-old public works employee from Allentown, and Lucas Blatz, a 20-year-old Penn State graduate currently working at Landis Logistics. Like their counterparts, Baer and Blatz will also need to complete police academy training.

The council confirmed that the new civil service list was approved on July 5th, marking a significant step in enhancing the city's law enforcement capabilities. The recruitment of these candidates reflects a commitment to building a well-rounded police department that draws from varied professional backgrounds.
