Youth Council Appointments Ignite Community Engagement in Little Elm

In a recent government meeting, the Little Elm Town Council discussed the appointment of seven members to the newly established Little Elm Youth Council, a key initiative aimed at increasing youth involvement in local governance. The council's strategic plan, updated in 2022, identified this objective as a priority, leading to the formation of the youth council.

Council member Lisa Biggs highlighted the enthusiasm surrounding the initiative, noting that this year saw a significant increase in interest, with 29 applications submitted. However, only two new positions were filled as five members from the previous year opted to return, ensuring continuity in leadership and experience. The returning members are Hassani Gedai, Vidid Veribani, Manasseh Mahankali, Isabel Luckett, and Tiffany Lynn, while Caitlin Carter and Shreya Shiver were appointed as new members.

Biggs emphasized the commitment of the youth to their community, stating that they are eager to contribute and learn about the workings of local government. The council plans to partner with various organizations, including the veterans committee, to foster a spirit of service among the youth while educating them on civic engagement.

The newly appointed council members will begin their terms this month, with their first meeting scheduled for Monday. The council expressed a desire to keep all applicants engaged, recognizing the strong interest from the community's youth in serving and making a difference.
