Drone outreach program empowers 450 new pilots in Tulsa

During a recent government meeting, officials highlighted significant advancements in community outreach and workforce development initiatives centered around drone technology. Over the past year, the team has focused on identifying workforce gaps and designing strategic interventions to address them.

Jasmine Gonzalez, a summer intern, played a pivotal role in these efforts by facilitating outreach programs that introduced drone technology to the public. The initiative reached over 450 individuals across various community events, including camps, festivals, and farmers markets, particularly in North and East Tulsa and Downtown areas. Notably, 185 participants were first-time drone users, showcasing the program's success in engaging new audiences.

The outreach included hands-on experiences, where participants of all ages, from young children to adults, had the opportunity to fly drones through an obstacle course set up at the events. The enthusiasm displayed by attendees, especially younger participants, underscored the program's effectiveness in fostering interest in technology and aviation.

This initiative not only aims to enhance community engagement but also seeks to build a foundation for future workforce development in the growing field of drone technology.
