Record turnout for Denver's Bike to Work Day

In a recent government meeting, officials discussed the success of the 2024 Bike to Work Day, highlighting significant participation and community engagement. Doctor Cog reported that the event, coordinated by the Way to Go program for the Denver region, saw over 11,000 registrations, with estimates suggesting that around 19,000 individuals actually took part in the initiative.

Notably, 24% of participants were first-time cyclists, indicating a growing interest in biking as a mode of transportation. The event featured 256 bike stations across the front range, supported by over 500 organizations participating in the business challenge. This year’s turnout reflects a strong commitment to promoting sustainable transportation and community health.

The meeting also noted that the board had not convened since the last DAC meeting, resulting in a brief report with limited new developments. However, the enthusiasm surrounding Bike to Work Day underscores the ongoing efforts to encourage cycling and reduce reliance on motor vehicles in the region.
