Housing Crisis Sparks Controversy Over Refugee Resettlement Plans

Cecilia Cooper presented a petition signed by 47 pages of residents advocating for a moratorium on refugee resettlement in Dunn County. Her husband, Michael Cooper, echoed these sentiments, expressing frustration over the lack of community input regarding the resettlement of refugees and the financial implications it may have on local services.

Bill Hogseth, representing Grassroots Organizing Western Wisconsin, highlighted the ongoing housing crisis, noting that many residents struggle to afford rent despite working full-time jobs. He supported the proposed amendment to allow ADUs, stating it would empower local property owners to contribute to housing solutions and keep revenue within the community.
