Our Lady of the Lake University celebrates historic national championship

In a recent meeting of the Bexar County Commissioner's Court, a proclamation was read to honor the Our Lady of the Lake University (OLLU) softball team for their historic achievements. The team, under the leadership of Coach Bruce Lenington, celebrated a remarkable 45-game winning streak, culminating in their victory at the NAIA Softball World Series National Championship. This victory marks the first national title for OLLU Athletics in any sport.

The proclamation highlighted the exceptional performance of the student-athletes, particularly recognizing Cassandra Valdez, who was named an All-American and the National Pitcher of the Year—an unprecedented accolade for an OLLU student. The court expressed pride in the team's accomplishments and their representation of San Antonio, particularly the west side of the city.
