City seeks grant to fund new bulletproof vests for police

During a recent government meeting, officials discussed a proposed resolution to apply for a grant under the BJA Patrick Leahy Bulletproof Vest Partnership Program. The initiative aims to secure funding to reimburse the city for bulletproof vests already purchased for law enforcement officers.

City officials clarified that the grant would allow for reimbursement of 50% of the costs incurred for vests bought since April 1. Currently, the city has purchased seven vests at an average cost of $900 each, totaling approximately $6,300.
