Community rallies to save local businesses amid closures

During a recent government meeting, local officials expressed their commitment to supporting small businesses and enhancing community engagement. Council member Tharp and Mayor Pico shared their disappointment over the impending closure of Pete's Coffee, the only location in Colorado and the fourth highest performing store in the chain, set to close on June 27. The closure has raised concerns among constituents about the broader trend of store closures in the area, particularly in the Streets of Southglenn.

In response to these challenges, the council members emphasized their dedication to fostering a thriving business environment in the community. They highlighted their efforts to connect with local business owners and understand the factors contributing to these closures.

Additionally, the meeting featured discussions about community activities, including a recent tree-planting event along the High Line Canal, where volunteers aimed to plant 50 trees per mile. The group successfully planted 20 trees, nearing the record for the most trees planted in a single day.
