Major renovation plans unveiled for historic downtown buildings

In a recent government meeting, significant plans were unveiled for the redevelopment of two buildings located at 301 Jefferson Street and 221 East Second Street, with a combined investment exceeding $1.5 million aimed at revitalizing the community.

The project at 301 Jefferson Street will involve a comprehensive restoration of the storefront, including new windows, doors, and a complete facade overhaul. The building, which has been vacant for less than a year, will also see the installation of new electrical systems and structural reinforcements. The corner location of the building, visible from two streets, is expected to enhance its appeal.

Meanwhile, the 221 East Second Street building, previously identified as a warehouse, is set to be transformed into a duck pin bowling venue featuring eight lanes—four on each of its two floors. Plans include the addition of a rooftop terrace and bar, which will require structural reinforcements to ensure safety and capacity. The renovation will also restore the building's industrial windows and introduce a garage-style door to create an inviting atmosphere for passersby.

Both projects are part of a broader effort to rejuvenate the area, with officials emphasizing the importance of these investments for community growth and engagement.
