City plans hurricane preparedness workshop amid tropical threat

In a recent city council meeting, officials announced the rescheduling of a hurricane preparedness workshop originally planned for earlier this month. The workshop, aimed at equipping citizens with essential information on hurricane safety, will now take place on Tuesday, July 9th, from 5 to 7 PM at the Bob Myers Civic Center. The decision to postpone was made due to a tropical disturbance threatening the area. City officials expressed hope that another weather system currently in the Atlantic would not impact the event.

During the meeting, Councilman Lewis requested that a team responsible for city infrastructure be present at the next council meeting to provide insights into their operations. This request was acknowledged, and plans were made to accommodate the team in a future daytime meeting.

Additionally, the council addressed a resolution concerning the design of a roadway extension. The city attorney highlighted the need for a modification in the language of the resolution to accurately reflect the contract details. The resolution will now specify the extension of Jimmy Johnson Boulevard from the Medical Center of Southeast Texas to Park Central Boulevard, omitting the previously mentioned State Highway 365.
