Council considers vibrant Juneteenth celebration for Carrollton

During a recent city council meeting, discussions highlighted the potential for enhancing Juneteenth celebrations in Carrollton. Council members expressed enthusiasm for forming a commission to explore the feasibility of organizing a more vibrant Juneteenth event. A show of hands indicated strong support among council members, with plans to add the topic to the next agenda for further consideration.

In addition to the Juneteenth discussions, Council Member Axberg congratulated fellow member Fleming on his nomination for mayor pro tem and yielded time for Fleming to share an important message. Axberg also reported on his attendance at a hospital authority board meeting and a community event promoting pet adoption at 3 Nations in downtown Charleston.

Council Mayor Pro Tem Klein shared updates from various engagements, including a recent food box packing event that saw significant volunteer participation from the Carrollton Women's Club. Klein also paid tribute to the late Ron Moss, a community member known for his contributions to local youth through scholarships and coaching, noting the impact he had on many lives in Carrollton.
