City tackles rising homeless encampments with new cleanup strategy

The trailer, which would cost approximately $71,000, is designed to provide a mobile space for showcasing adoptable animals at public events. This initiative is seen as a way to increase visibility for the shelter's animals and improve adoption rates.

Council members engaged in discussions about the frequency and logistics of encampment cleanups, noting that the number of cleanups had risen from 3-5 annually before 2022 to 14 in the past year. The cleanups are conducted in collaboration with local services to ensure that individuals in encampments receive appropriate support.
