In a recent government meeting, officials announced the selection of four winning poems from three local poets, chosen by two judges who evaluated submissions anonymously. This initiative is part of a broader effort to engage the community in the arts and enhance public spaces in Lebanon.
The poetry contest, which began in 2022, invites residents who live, work, or recreate in Lebanon to submit their work. The selected poems will be imprinted into the sidewalks outside City Hall and at 3 Tomatoes in Salt Hill, continuing a project aimed at celebrating local creativity. Last year's winners were also recognized, with plans to imprint their poems into the sidewalks this year.
City officials expressed optimism about the project, noting that while the stamps for last year's winners are ready, they have yet to be used. The goal is to incorporate this year's winning poems into the sidewalk designs by next year, further enriching the community's artistic landscape.
