The master plan adopted by the planning board includes a housing section that was informed by a housing needs assessment conducted by the Southern New Hampshire Planning Commission. Additionally, the meeting featured insights from a recent ribbon-cutting ceremony for Marmon Aerospace, a new 82,000 square foot manufacturing facility that produces cabling for naval vessels. Despite the facility's advanced automation and potential for expansion, the company faces difficulties in attracting employees. The median home prices in the area, ranging from $500,000 to $600,000, were cited as a major barrier to recruitment, underscoring the broader housing crisis impacting local businesses and their workforce.
