Community pleads for safety amid rising neighborhood violence

Residents of Wenatchee voiced urgent concerns during a recent government meeting, highlighting issues of safety and community support. Vivian McDonald, a local resident, shared her painful experiences growing up in an environment that left her feeling unheard and unsafe. She urged officials to implement changes to prevent future generations from facing similar challenges.

Leah Litala, who lives across from a troubled property on North Delaware, recounted her unsettling welcome to the neighborhood, marked by police activity and alarming incidents, including witnessing an overdose death. Litala expressed her desire for a safer community and called for more resources to address the escalating issues.

Denise McBurnie addressed the meeting regarding her missing son, Travis Coleman. She expressed gratitude towards the Wenatchee Police Department, particularly Detective Hewitt, for their support. McBurnnie highlighted the efforts of the Alok Angels, a volunteer drone search and rescue service, which has been instrumental in locating missing persons. She reported that they have reached 50% of their fundraising goal to assist in the search for her son and potentially other missing individuals in the area.
