Mayor champions youth programs with generous donations

During a recent government meeting, the mayor celebrated the success of the annual mayor's golf tournament, which raises funds for local nonprofits. This year, the beneficiaries included the Concord Junior Giants League, First Tee, and the Rainbow Community Center.

The mayor presented checks to representatives from each organization, highlighting their contributions to the community. Anna Villalobos, commissioner of the Concord Junior Giants League, expressed gratitude for the support, noting that the league serves over 420 children, providing a free program that welcomes all, including those with special needs. She emphasized the importance of community support in covering operational costs.

First Tee's representative thanked the mayor and the council for their assistance, sharing that the organization focuses on teaching youth valuable life skills through golf. He also announced his transition from executive director to a role focused on coach recruitment, ensuring that no child is turned away due to financial constraints.

The Rainbow Community Center was also acknowledged, with the mayor indicating that their check would be mailed. The meeting underscored the city's commitment to supporting local youth programs and community organizations.
