Transportation project gains momentum despite summer setback

In a recent transportation committee roundtable, significant progress was reported regarding the Parkway project, particularly the Winuski interchange. Officials confirmed that all parties have reached an agreement on the Project Labor Agreement (PLA), paving the way for the next steps, including obtaining bids for construction. However, the delay in starting construction means that the summer construction season has been lost.

Despite this setback, officials expressed optimism about the project's future. They noted that if the federal funding of over $30 million is not utilized by the deadline in December 2026, there are contingency plans in place to reallocate resources for phase two of the project.

Additionally, the meeting underscored the importance of completing existing projects, with a strong emphasis on the Newburgh Dundee bypass. Legislators were reminded of the need to prioritize finishing ongoing initiatives dating back to 2017.

As the community gears up for local events, including the Yamhill Derby this Saturday and the fair starting July 31, officials encouraged residents to engage with these summer activities while remaining informed about transportation developments.
