New parking plan aims to ease student traffic chaos

In a recent government meeting, officials discussed a proposed redesign of a school parking lot aimed at improving traffic flow for student pickup and drop-off. The current layout has been identified as problematic, particularly at the intersection of Wood Lane Drive, where vehicles often face delays due to a stop sign that creates a bottleneck.

The proposed changes include reorienting the road to eliminate the T intersection, allowing for a free-flowing traffic pattern once vehicles enter the site. This redesign aims to facilitate smoother transitions for parents picking up and dropping off students, with plans for two lanes of queuing space that would merge into one before exiting.

Additionally, the proposal includes relocating staff parking to the eastern side of the building, while maintaining bus access from Wyndham Way. A large stop sign is planned to enhance visibility and prioritize traffic for student drop-off, discouraging parents from using the front entrance for pickups, which has been a source of congestion.
