New principal vows to transform Waterbury school community

During a recent meeting of the Waterbury Board of Education, significant discussions highlighted the enthusiasm of teachers regarding new educational tools and the appointment of a new principal for Enlightenment School.

Superintendent Dr. Verna Ruffin's tenure was acknowledged with appreciation, as the board expressed its commitment to finding a successor who aligns with the district's goals. In a pivotal moment, the board approved the appointment of Lauren Milay as the new principal of Enlightenment School, effective July 25, 2024. Milay, who began her career in Waterbury Public Schools in 2010, has held various roles including second-grade teacher and interim assistant principal.
