City plans spectacular drone show for July 4th celebration

During a recent government meeting, city officials announced key upcoming events and initiatives aimed at engaging the community and ensuring public safety.

Starting July 15, residents can begin submitting applications for city positions, with the filing period concluding on August 9. City Clerk Teri Takahoda will assist applicants by appointment.

In a bid to foster community spirit, several family-friendly events were announced for the summer. A Shakespeare by the Sea performance of \"Henry IV\" will take place at Hess Park on July 7 at 7 PM, promising a delightful evening for attendees. Additionally, a movie night featuring the remake of \"The Little Rascals\" is set for July 13 at the Kendaida Civic Center, complete with activities for children and food trucks.

As the Fourth of July approaches, officials reiterated the city's strict prohibition on fireworks, citing safety concerns and significant penalties for violations, starting at $1,000 for first offenses. Residents are urged to report any illegal fireworks activity to local authorities.

To celebrate Independence Day, the city will host its second annual drone show on July 4, following the success of last year's event. The festivities will commence at 3 PM at the Civic Center, featuring live music, food trucks, and carnival rides, culminating in the drone show at approximately 9 PM. Attendees are encouraged to arrive early to secure a good viewing spot, as large crowds are expected.
