Students shine at national invention competition representing Wildomar

The Wildomar City Council convened on Tuesday evening, beginning with a roll call that confirmed the presence of all council members, including Mayor Moore and Mayor Pro Tem DeFilippo. The meeting commenced with a Pledge of Allegiance led by students from the Julia Lee Performing Arts Academy, Jada and Maite.

A significant highlight of the meeting was the proclamation of July 2024 as \"Parks Make Life Better Month.\" This initiative, part of a statewide campaign by the California Park and Recreation Society, aims to raise awareness about the benefits of parks and recreational facilities for community health and wellness.

The council also celebrated the achievements of two local students, Jada and Martha, who excelled at the recent National Invention Convention in Michigan. Jada, a third grader, won first place in her category and received the award for best prototype, while Martha secured second place and was recognized for best education. Their inventions, \"Locker Desk\" and \"See Easy Drops,\" were presented to the council, showcasing the creativity and innovation fostered in local schools.

The students expressed gratitude for the support they received throughout their journey, particularly highlighting the role of their teacher, Miss Watkins, who dedicated significant time and effort to guide them. The council members and attendees applauded their accomplishments and the opportunity for the students to represent the United States at the upcoming World Wide Invention Convention.
