San Pablo prepares for multicultural celebration amid heat warning

During a recent government meeting, San Pablo officials outlined key community events and public safety initiatives ahead of the upcoming July 4th multicultural celebration. Scheduled from 5 to 9 PM at the San Pablo Community Center, the event will feature a drone light show, live music, food, carnival games, and a performance by the Viva Santana tribute band. City officials emphasized the importance of community engagement and encouraged local organizations to participate in tabling at the event to share valuable resources with residents.

In addition to the celebration, the city is launching a fireworks education campaign to remind residents that fireworks are illegal in San Pablo. The San Pablo Police Department will collaborate with various agencies to raise awareness about the dangers associated with fireworks, particularly during the holiday period.

City Manager remarks also highlighted the upcoming Dumpster Day on September 7, 2024, providing residents with an opportunity to dispose of unwanted items for free. The event will take place at the Moraga location from 7 AM until the dumpsters are full or noon, whichever comes first.

Furthermore, officials are preparing for a heatwave expected to last over the next two weeks, with temperatures projected to reach the upper eighties to lower nineties. Discussions are underway to potentially open the San Pablo library as a cooling center to assist residents during this period of excessive heat.
