Officers honored for lifesaving actions during overdose rescue

During a recent San Pablo City Council meeting, Police Officers Christina Foster and Brooke Cabold were honored for their life-saving actions in response to an overdose incident earlier this year. The recognition highlighted the critical role of police training and community engagement in addressing the ongoing opioid crisis.

City Manager and Police Chief Bubar introduced the officers, emphasizing their dedication to public safety. Officer Foster, a six-year veteran of the San Pablo Police Department, has previously received two life-saving medals for her quick response to medical emergencies. She is also noted for being the first female officer on the department's SWAT team. Officer Cabold, who joined the force in 2023, was recognized for her swift actions during the overdose call in May, which ultimately saved a young man's life.

The incident, which was shared via a video that garnered over 10,000 views on social media, showcased the officers' training in administering Narcan, a medication used to reverse opioid overdoses. Chief Bubar stressed the importance of such training, stating that it equips officers to respond effectively in critical situations.

Council members expressed their gratitude and commended the officers for their bravery and commitment to saving lives. They acknowledged the broader implications of their work, emphasizing that law enforcement is not only about crime prevention but also about community health and safety.
