Community Day of Champions to Showcase Youth Boxing Talent

On Saturday, August 3, 2024, Azusa will host its inaugural Producer Community Day of Champions, featuring a youth boxing showcase and a series of related events. The day will kick off at 9 AM at the NRC, where local boxing clubs will present their young athletes in a competition focused on skills rather than sparring. The event is organized in collaboration with world champion boxer Paul Boehnke and aims to promote youth engagement in the sport.

Following the boxing showcase, attendees can enjoy a barbecue hosted by Mister Banky's, with a VIP reception and watch party scheduled for later in the day. This event is designed to celebrate local talent and provide an opportunity for families to explore boxing as a potential sport for their children.

Additionally, on Sunday, August 18, the city will hold its 15th annual Kathy's Cool Cut event at Memorial Park from 12 PM to 4 PM. This initiative, named in honor of a council member's sister, offers free haircuts and school supplies to children in preparation for the upcoming school year. Local vendors and community leaders, including Assemblywoman Blanca Rubio, will participate in this effort to support families in need.
