Community rallies for street closure to support Vet Rock event

During a recent government meeting, Al Podolski, a member of the First United Methodist Church and the Vet Rock Committee, presented a request for street closures to facilitate the upcoming sixth annual Vet Rock event. Scheduled for August 23rd from 5 PM to approximately 10:30 PM, the event aims to support veterans and is expected to draw a significant crowd, similar to last year's attendance of around 1,200 to 1,400 people.

Podolski requested the temporary closure of South Street between Main and East Streets from 3 PM to 10 PM to accommodate food and refreshments provided by Off Square Brewery, a key sponsor of the event. The brewery has previously contributed to the event's success and is expected to donate a portion of its sales to Vet Rock.

The proposal was met with support from the board, with discussions confirming that barricades would be provided by public works to ensure safety during the event. The motion to approve the street closure was unanimously passed, highlighting the community's commitment to supporting veterans through this annual gathering.
