Community voices rise in urgent call for traffic solutions

During a recent government meeting, community members voiced their concerns regarding local infrastructure and traffic issues. The public forum allowed residents to address the council directly, with a three-minute limit on comments to accommodate multiple speakers.

Dodie Boat, a resident of Elm Street, highlighted ongoing grading work on Camberview and expressed frustration over the delay of a second entrance to the area. She recalled past promises to alleviate traffic by extending West Third Street, which have yet to materialize after decades. Boat emphasized the dangers posed by increased traffic on her street, particularly for children who must walk to catch the school bus, noting that nearby North Hazel lacks sidewalks.

Additionally, Boat questioned the allocation of $500,000 previously granted to AtI and Timberview, seeking clarity on the source of the funds and their current use. Her comments reflect a broader concern among residents about transparency and accountability in local government spending.

The meeting underscored the community's desire for improved infrastructure and safety measures, as well as a call for more effective communication from local officials regarding financial decisions.
