Major industrial project set to boost local economy

In a recent planning commission meeting, officials discussed the Mohave Industrial Park project, which aims to develop three industrial warehouse buildings totaling approximately 1.35 million square feet on 81.1 acres of vacant land in Victorville. The project, located north of Mohave Drive and east of Onyx Road, is designed to comply with local development standards, with minor deviations proposed for building height and fence height to adequately screen rooftop equipment and loading areas.

The project underwent an environmental review, resulting in a comprehensive Environmental Impact Report (EIR) that addressed potential impacts on air quality, greenhouse gas emissions, and transportation. While the report identified unavoidable impacts, staff recommended the adoption of mitigation measures and the certification of the final EIR.

The applicant's representative highlighted the project's potential economic benefits, including the creation of approximately 1,100 permanent jobs and temporary construction positions. The development is expected to enhance the city's industrial capacity and support local economic growth through increased job opportunities and sales tax revenues.

The planning commission is set to conduct a public hearing to gather community feedback before making a decision on the project. The applicant's team is prepared to present additional details and answer any questions from the commission and the public.
