Menifee adopts Complete Streets plan for safer community

During a recent government meeting, the Menifee City Council unanimously adopted the Menifee Complete Streets Plan, a significant initiative aimed at enhancing the city’s infrastructure for all modes of transportation. The plan, which has been in development for the past 18 months, was presented by management analyst Jenny McConville and consultant Joe Punslin from KTUA.

McConville highlighted the extensive community engagement process that shaped the plan, emphasizing the community's strong investment in improving their quality of life. The project advisory team, composed of local stakeholders, played a crucial role in ensuring that the final plan reflected the community's needs and values.

Punslin outlined the plan's objectives, which include creating a safe and comfortable network for pedestrians, cyclists, and motorists. Funded by a Caltrans grant, the Complete Streets Plan is designed to align with the city’s general plan and ongoing development projects, ensuring that future infrastructure improvements are integrated with the city’s growth.

Key components of the plan include priority projects identified through community feedback, such as improvements around Paloma Valley High School, Newport Road, Antelope Road, Hahn Road, and Scott Road. These projects aim to formalize parking, install bike lanes, and enhance pedestrian access, thereby promoting safer travel options throughout the city.

The plan also includes strategies for implementation, identifying potential funding sources and phasing for future projects. With the adoption of the Complete Streets Plan, Menifee is poised to make significant strides toward a more equitable and accessible transportation network for its residents.
