North Market Veil faces closure over repeated alcohol violations

In a recent government meeting, serious concerns were raised regarding the North Market Veil, a business located at 3101 North Market in Shreveport, Louisiana. Over the past two and a half years, the establishment has faced numerous alcohol violations, particularly incidents involving the sale of alcohol to minors. In the last year alone, the business was cited four times for underage sales, with reports indicating that teenagers as young as 15 were able to purchase alcohol and tobacco products.

Complaints have not only come from Shreveport residents but also from surrounding communities, including Halston, Benton, Bossier, and Halton. Parents have expressed their concerns after tracking their children's frequent visits to the location using the Life 360 app.

The situation escalated in August 2022 when the store manager was arrested for manufacturing, distributing, and possessing Schedule I narcotics. This followed a prior incident in January 2021, when the owner was notified of illegal narcotic activity on the premises, leading to an arrest for drug sales in the parking lot. Despite multiple warnings and citations, the North Market Veil has continued to sell tobacco and alcohol to minors, demonstrating a troubling pattern of behavior that raises significant public safety concerns.

In light of these violations, a request was made to deny the alcohol permit for North Market Veil and to enforce provisions of the Shreveport City Ordinance.
