Students unite to raise record $93000 for homeless families

In a remarkable display of community spirit, students from Rochester, Stoney Creek, and Adams high schools united for their annual Charity Week, raising an impressive $93,000 for Humble Design, a nonprofit dedicated to transforming houses into homes for families emerging from homelessness. This donation marks the largest single contribution to the organization, which operates locally in Pontiac and focuses on providing essential furnishings to those in need.

During a recent government meeting, Grace, the president of Stoney Creek, highlighted the unique charity initiatives each school undertakes, such as charity baskets at Rochester, a duck race at Stoney Creek, and food auctions at Adams. Despite their rivalries, the schools collaborated effectively, setting aside competition to focus on a common cause that resonates deeply within their community.

The students' efforts were celebrated in a segment by journalist Paula Tuckman, who emphasized the significance of their contribution. The funds raised will directly support Humble Design's mission to furnish homes, providing stability and comfort to families in transition.
