New AEDs promise faster emergency response times

In a recent government meeting, officials discussed the procurement of new Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) to enhance emergency medical response capabilities in the county. The proposed purchase involves acquiring 39 Stryker AEDs, each costing approximately $6,500, totaling around $253,500.

The current AEDs in use require emergency responders to stop care and switch pads when transitioning from one device to another, which can delay critical care. The new devices are compatible with existing equipment, allowing for a seamless transition that could potentially save lives during emergencies.

Commissioner Tice motioned for the purchase, emphasizing the importance of the new AEDs in improving response times and patient outcomes. The motion received unanimous support from the board, highlighting a collective commitment to enhancing public safety.

Following the AED discussion, the meeting moved on to other agenda items, including a request for the installation of concrete at a designated site, indicating ongoing infrastructure improvements within the county.
