Residents Demand Action as Tuscarora Village Faces Ongoing Issues

Concerns regarding the Tuscarora Village residential development were addressed in a recent government meeting, highlighting ongoing issues between residents and the developer, Stanley Martin. Council member Seminar Johnson raised complaints about the developer's lack of responsiveness to resident concerns, including property maintenance, parking shortages, and communication problems.

Town staff conducted an analysis following the council's request, identifying three main findings. Firstly, many complaints pertain to private property issues rather than matters under the town's control. Ongoing construction has exacerbated conditions in common areas, impacting residents' quality of life. Secondly, the construction has led to the removal of 18 parking spaces, which were previously available but not designated for residents. This has intensified parking challenges, as there are reportedly more vehicles than available spaces in the community.

The third finding indicated that while the town can address certain maintenance issues, it lacks authority over the developer's communication practices with residents. Town attorney Mr. Sparek noted that Stanley Martin is technically compliant with planning documents, limiting the town's leverage in enforcing resident concerns.

Vice Mayor expressed frustration over the developer's public relations approach, suggesting that Stanley Martin should proactively address resident issues without needing reminders from the town. The meeting also confirmed that Stanley Martin is moving forward with the construction of the clubhouse and pool, with completion expected around 2027, contingent on the development's phased timeline.
