Police uncover dynamite in vehicle after dramatic crash

During a recent meeting, the Pendleton Police Department provided a detailed report on significant incidents from May, highlighting a series of alarming events and community engagements.

Chief of Police reported a serious incident involving a vehicle crash on Old 132, where responding officers discovered a stick of dynamite and a laser light ignition tool in the abandoned vehicle. The dynamite was noted to have a minimum blast radius of 150 feet, raising concerns about public safety. The investigation into this incident is ongoing.

Additionally, the report addressed a police action shooting involving Officer Jerry Branson, who was injured during a traffic stop when a suspect turned a firearm on himself. Fortunately, Officer Branson survived the incident, and a thorough review by the Anderson Police Department confirmed that he acted professionally throughout the encounter.

The department also shared updates on community outreach efforts, including participation in local events such as the Pendleton Intermediate Career Day and a block party at Solid Rock Church.
