Community unites in patriotic celebration of American values

A recent community gathering in Grapevine, Texas, celebrated American pride and unity, featuring 15 speakers and a heartfelt performance by local talent. The event, attended by 103 residents, was marked by prayers for the nation and reflections on what it means to be an American.

Justice of the Peace Bill Brandt opened the event, expressing his pride in serving as an elected official. The gathering included three police officers from the Grapevine Police Department, one of whom shared his journey from New York City to Texas, highlighting the differences in community spirit. Officer Ronnie Gutierrez, who immigrated to the U.S. in 2006 and learned English, was recognized for his recent promotion to captain, inspiring attendees with his story of perseverance.

Local musician Justin Mason, accompanied by his daughters, performed \"God Bless the USA\" with support from Lee Greenwood, adding a musical touch to the celebration. Mayor Tate concluded the event with a prayer, emphasizing the importance of community and gratitude.

Plans for next year’s event are already underway, with the VFW and Grapevine Historical Society expressing interest in participating. Organizers are considering an earlier start time to avoid the heat, aiming to enhance the experience for attendees.

Congresswoman Beth Van Dyne, who briefly attended, remarked on the significance of the gathering amidst the current national climate of division, stating that such local events embody the true spirit of America. The event served as a reminder of the strength found in community and shared values.
