City planners unveil ambitious vision for future development

City planners Jake Seid and Stephanie Brown presented their vision for Effingham's new comprehensive plan during a recent government meeting, emphasizing the importance of actionable strategies for future development. Seid, the founding principal of Siteline Planning and Zoning, highlighted his extensive experience in urban planning, which includes working with various cities across the United States. He stressed the need for the plan to be more than just a document, aiming for its implementation to avoid it becoming obsolete.

Brown, an associate urban planner with Chastain and Associates, joined the meeting remotely and expressed her enthusiasm for the project. With 17 years of experience, she has worked on numerous comprehensive plans and community engagement initiatives, underscoring the value of public input in shaping effective urban policies.

Both planners emphasized collaboration with city staff and community members to identify strengths and weaknesses within Effingham, aiming to create a sustainable path forward. Their combined expertise is expected to guide the city in crafting a comprehensive plan that aligns with its long-term vision and development goals.
