City cracks down on repeat property violations

In the first case, concerning the property at 9460 North Southwest 52nd Street, the owner, identified as the estate of Dorina P. Martin, was cited for excessive undergrowth and accumulation of junk. This property has a history of similar violations, and despite previous warnings, it remained non-compliant as of the latest inspection on July 9, 2024. The city officials noted that a notice of violation had been posted, and they are considering requesting an abatement. A fine of $150 was imposed, with an additional $500 daily fine set to commence if compliance is not achieved by September 11.

The second case involved a property at 4977 Southwest 94 Terrace, owned by Merceron Brumer. This property was found to have debris stored in the yard, violating maintenance standards. Similar to the first case, the owner had received multiple warnings, and as of the latest inspection, the property remained non-compliant. A $150 administrative fee was established, with a daily fine of $150 set to begin if compliance is not met by the same September 11 deadline.

Additionally, the meeting included discussions on other cases, including parking violations and residential maintenance standards, with fines and compliance deadlines established for each. The officials reiterated the necessity for property owners to adhere to community standards to maintain neighborhood aesthetics and safety.
