Community voices shape new housing project plans

In a recent government meeting, discussions centered around a proposed housing project west of Larch, which includes five cottages, four townhomes, and two pairs of duplexes. The project has received feedback primarily concerning parking, with the developers acknowledging they are falling two parking stalls short of the required code.

On the east side of the project, there are plans for 17 additional homes, comprising 13 cottages and another pair of duplexes. Similar to the west side, this section also faces a parking shortfall, although the developers believe the existing parking is sufficient given the historical occupancy patterns of the area, which includes a significant number of single occupants.

In response to community concerns regarding density, home sizes, and proximity to neighboring properties, the developers have engaged with local residents. They conducted individual meetings to better understand the neighbors' perspectives and address their concerns.

The community meeting held to discuss the project had a modest turnout, with approximately 10 attendees, including most immediate neighbors. The developers are committed to addressing the feedback received and ensuring compliance with parking regulations as they move forward with the project.
