Maple Heights honors legendary wrestling coach Jamie Milkovich

During a recent government meeting, community member Miss Gates presented a proposal to introduce the \"Good to Great\" (G2G) track program at Mabel, emphasizing its positive impact on youth and the community. Established in 2008, G2G aims to foster a supportive environment for children aged 5 to 19. Gates highlighted the program's successful presence in other communities and noted that it has already engaged some local youth. Both Dr. Keenan and Coach Collier, who were consulted about the program, expressed their support after conducting thorough vetting, confirming the program's positive reputation.

The board was urged to consider the program's implementation, with a timeline for a decision set for October. Gates requested additional information about G2G to facilitate further discussions.

In another significant moment, the board recognized Coach Jamie Milkovich, who announced his retirement after 43 years of leading the Maple Heights wrestling program. Milkovich, a lifelong resident of Maple Heights, has built a legacy within the community, becoming the all-time winningest dual meet coach in Ohio wrestling history and earning induction into the National Wrestling Hall of Fame. The board presented him with a plaque commemorating his contributions, highlighting his dedication to the district and the numerous accolades achieved during his tenure.
