Westerville gears up for vibrant Independence Day celebrations

During a recent government meeting, Westerville officials celebrated Parks and Recreation Month and discussed upcoming Independence Day festivities. Mayor's remarks highlighted the city's lush green spaces, attributing their maintenance to the dedicated efforts of the Parks and Recreation team, led by Director Randy Auler. Auler accepted a proclamation on behalf of the Parks and Recreation Advisory Board, emphasizing the vital role parks play in enhancing community quality of life.

The meeting also addressed the city's Independence Day celebration, marking the 62nd year of the Westerville Rotary Club's involvement in organizing the event. This year’s parade theme, \"Red, White, and Blue, America for Me and You,\" was chosen by second grader Madison Adams, who expressed her excitement about participating in the parade.

Additionally, the meeting announced the 6th annual Diabetes Dash 5K run and walk, scheduled for July 21, with proceeds benefiting diabetes research and a local scholarship. City Manager Miss Dupi provided details about the Independence Day parade and festivities, reassuring residents that events would proceed rain or shine, with contingency plans in place for inclement weather.
