Community art project set to transform Brookhaven festival

During a recent government meeting, Oshun Lane, the executive director of Dashboard, and project director Abigail Jessman presented plans for a temporary public art installation in Brookhaven, set to coincide with the 2024 International Festival. Lane introduced Dashboard as a creative nonprofit dedicated to transformative art experiences in public spaces, emphasizing their commitment to engaging local artists.

The proposed project aims to consolidate the festival's activities around Corporate Square, moving away from the previously broader Greenway Trail. Lane highlighted the intention to collaborate with two Georgia-based artists who reflect the diverse culture of the Beaufort Highway Corridor. Instead of separate installations, the artists will work together on a collaborative piece, fostering a dialogue about community identity and artistic expression.

The presentation also revisited themes from last year's \"Boundless Dreams\" project, focusing on concepts such as unity and collaboration. Lane and Jessman sought feedback on potential artists and discussed the project's timeline and budget considerations, aiming to create a vibrant and inclusive art experience for festival attendees.
