Vermilion appoints first poet laureate in historic move

In a recent city council meeting, significant developments were announced, including the appointment of Vermilion's first poet laureate and discussions on local ordinances and community events.

Mayor Ford announced the appointment of Joette McDonald as the city's inaugural poet laureate, following a recommendation from the Vermilion Poetry Society. This appointment is set to take effect on July 18, 2024, pending council confirmation.
