Library faces staffing crisis as key positions remain unfilled

The recent government meeting highlighted significant staffing changes within the local library system, following the departure of Jean Marie Naylor, the programming and outreach coordinator, who left her position on July 6th due to personal reasons. The library has received approval to fill her role, with plans to post the job listing early next week.

In addition to Naylor's departure, two senior library assistant positions are also available, one of which became vacant due to a promotion. These positions have also been approved for hiring, with hopes to post the listings by next week.

The meeting also confirmed the successful filling of two previously open positions: a senior library assistant and a library assistant. Offer letters for these roles have been accepted, with one new hire starting imminently.

Despite these positive developments, the library is currently facing staffing shortages, which has led to existing staff taking on additional responsibilities. The workforce development and social services coordinator position remains unfilled, pending the onboarding of a new senior workforce development professional, as these roles are intended to collaborate closely.
