Free Landfill Day Offers Residents Chance to Clear Clutter

Residents of Hirsch are reminded that this Saturday marks the city's free landfill day, providing an opportunity for locals to dispose of unwanted items. To participate, residents must bring their water bill and proof of identity to the landfill located off Highway 157 in Ulysses, near Arlington. The landfill will accept a variety of materials, including metals, general refuse, and mulch. However, hazardous household chemicals must be taken to a designated recycling area managed by Fort Worth.

In other council news, the scheduled meeting for July 23rd has been canceled due to a budget workshop. During the meeting, council members also took a moment to commend a local video highlighting a barbershop owned by Travis, a Vietnam veteran who has served the community for 25 years. The video, produced by city staff member Chris, has received praise for its quality and storytelling. The mayor encouraged residents to view the video on the city’s Instagram page and support Travis's business.
