City secures over 23 million in vital grants

During a recent government meeting, city officials announced significant funding achievements aimed at enhancing local recreational facilities and infrastructure. The city manager informed attendees of a $200,000 grant from the Florida Recreation Development Assistance Program, designated for improvements at the soccer complex, which was originally constructed 15 years ago. This funding will facilitate the completion of lighting upgrades and other enhancements, including field improvements and playground resurfacing.

Additionally, the city secured a $50,000 grant for Lake Wales Park, which will be used to resurface the basketball court and install new picnic tables and trash receptacles. Another notable achievement is a $110,000 hazard mitigation grant aimed at installing a generator at city hall, addressing the facility's vulnerability during power outages, particularly during storms.

In a remarkable week for the city, officials reported a total of $23,289,481.25 in grants received, marking a significant boost for local development and community services. These funding successes reflect the city’s ongoing commitment to improving public spaces and ensuring the safety and well-being of its residents.
