Residents demand action after devastating neighborhood flooding

Residents of the Peterson First Edition Subdivision voiced their frustrations at a recent government meeting regarding persistent drainage issues that have led to significant flooding in their neighborhood. The group, which included several affected homeowners, reported that they had reached out to the South Ard Drainage District but received inadequate responses concerning the situation.

According to the residents, a broken and clogged drainage tile was identified last fall, yet no repairs were made, resulting in severe flooding in early May. This incident has caused extensive damage to personal property, including ruined finished basements, loss of personal items, and financial burdens due to time off work and repair costs. The emotional toll has also been significant, with residents expressing anxiety and sleepless nights over the threat of flooding.

During discussions with drainage district representatives, residents were reportedly met with dismissive comments, including suggestions that flooding is simply a part of rural living. The community is now calling for immediate action to address the drainage problems and prevent future incidents.
