Community leader urges denial of controversial annexation proposal

Melanie Smith Allen, a resident of 3118 Kings Drive, emphasized that the proposed changes would disrupt the established nature of the community, which has historically maintained specific lot sizes and setbacks.

Allen pointed out that the area was originally developed with wells and septic tanks, and any alterations to the current zoning could undermine the character that residents have come to expect. She urged the committee to consider these factors seriously, recommending the denial of the annexation based on its inconsistency with community standards.

Additionally, Allen corrected an error on the agenda regarding the street name, clarifying that it should be listed as Kings Drive, not Kings Road.
