City gears up for exciting 4th of July celebration

Residents are invited to celebrate at Wax Park with an exciting lineup of activities planned for the upcoming event. Attendees can look forward to three rides, four inflatables, four carnival games, and a variety of prizes, alongside a concert and a fireworks display. This year, 16 food trucks will be on-site to minimize wait times, addressing concerns from previous events.

In the latest council meeting, the city planner announced that the next session on July 11 will feature a public hearing on the comprehensive plan, presented by American Structure Point. Council members will receive documentation regarding the existing conditions report and the comprehensive plan via a link due to file size limitations. Additionally, a rezoning proposal for a private residence from Conservation R2 will be discussed.

A Board of Zoning Appeals (BZA) meeting is scheduled for July 2, focusing on a deck extension for a property on Dorff Drive. The council also congratulated new members of the fire department, emphasizing community safety and engagement as the Fourth of July approaches. Council members expressed their gratitude for the hard work of city departments, particularly in the challenging summer heat.
