Business owner demands action on traffic chaos in Kennesaw

During a recent government meeting, local business owners and residents expressed significant concerns regarding ongoing traffic issues and the impact of new developments in Kennesaw. One business owner highlighted the severe congestion on Cherokee Street, noting that it takes up to 20 minutes to exit his property due to bumper-to-bumper traffic. He emphasized that the influx of residential developments has exacerbated the situation, with no apparent plans to improve the road infrastructure.

The owner recounted personal experiences, including two incidents where a power pole outside his business was damaged, resulting in a week-long closure. He criticized the lack of mixed-use developments, stating that the area is becoming increasingly residential without adequate commercial support. He called for a comprehensive plan to address traffic flow and road maintenance before further construction occurs.

Another resident, Will Mace, who owns adjacent properties, acknowledged the potential for redevelopment but echoed concerns about the current state of the area. He described existing properties as eyesores and expressed hope that future developments would enhance the community. However, he also agreed that road improvements are essential to accommodate the growing population and alleviate traffic congestion.

Carl Luthier, a nearby resident, reiterated the need for road widening and improvements, stating that the neighborhood itself is not the problem but rather the inadequate infrastructure to support the increased traffic.
