New road and reservoir project set to transform region

In a recent government meeting, officials provided updates on two significant infrastructure projects: a new road construction and a reservoir development.

The new road, which will connect to Interstate 15 and extend approximately 4.8 miles, is currently under contract with completion expected by December 15, 2023. However, officials expressed a realistic expectation that the project may extend to March 15, 2024, due to potential delays. The road will traverse challenging terrain, particularly near the southern end, where it will cut through an area known as the Hogsback or Ridgeline, a decision made as far back as 1969.

In addition to the road, the construction of a new reservoir has commenced, with ground-breaking activities already underway. The reservoir is projected to take about 18 months to complete, although officials cautioned that it may take longer to fill due to environmental factors. The reservoir will be located adjacent to the new road, with plans to relocate a nearby pump house to accommodate the high water mark.

These projects are expected to enhance local infrastructure and water management, although officials acknowledged the complexities involved in their execution.
